1. What is coronavirus?

The coronaviruses are a group of viruses that can disease in both animals and humans. The first coronal virus identified in 2002-03 as SARS-CoV (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – Corona Virus) . The first novel SARS-CoV was transmitted from bats to humans in China markets via palm civets. Another MERS-CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome- Corona Virus) that emerged in 2012 caused severe respiratory disease. In December 2019, the new SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan city, China.

2. What is COVID-19?

The SARS-CoV-2 causes the disease is called COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease -19). The incubation period for this disease varies from 2 days to 14 days.

3. What are Pandemic and Epidemic?

Pandemic is the spread of disease across the large regions (countries). Epidemic is the spread of disease in one region only. World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a pandemic on 11th March 2020.

4. Where and when the first was reported?

The first case was reported on December 8th in Wuhan city, China and 30th January in Kerala, India.

5. What are the symptoms of the COVID-19?

The primary symptoms of COVID-19 are as follows:.

1. Persistent cough
2. Fever
3. Shortness of breath
4. Runny nose
5. Tiredness
6. Headache

The person will experience these symptoms after exposure to the virus.

6. What are the preventions for COVID-19?

1. The Central for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended washing your hands every 20 minutes with soap or a sanitizer containing 60% alcohol, especially after being in public places.
2. The Government of India suggests that the social distance should be at least 1 meter.
3. Stay at home and follow the lockdown rules.
4. Don’t touch your face, eyes, nose, or mouth when your hands are dirty.
5. Wear a mask at public places.

7. Why Aarogya Setu Important?

Aarogya Setu mobile application is developed by the Government of India (GOI) and an important weapon in the fight against COVID-19. It is available in 11 different languages. It will tell you about the risk of getting affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The great feature of this app is that it alerts you if the COVID-19 infected person is close to you, but you should turn on Bluetooth and location services on your mobile.
